Why I'm co-founding AHUL

AI systems can reason, generate, and act — but they're still blind to the human in front of them. That's the gap AHUL is built to close.

Most of my research career has circled one question: how do you get a system to notice what a person is actually experiencing — not just what they click or say, but what their body and attention are telling you? Cognitive load, stress, fatigue, engagement. Signals that are there, if you know how to look.

AI has gotten remarkably good at reasoning, generating, and acting. It’s still mostly blind to the human on the other side of the interaction. That gap — the distance between a capable model and a model that actually understands the person it’s serving — is what a small team of us decided was worth building a company around.

I can’t say much more yet; we’re early, heads-down, and talking to the right people before we talk to everyone. If the problem sounds familiar — or you work in affective computing, ML infrastructure, or human-computer interaction and want to compare notes — I’d love to hear from you.
