An Augmented Reality X-Ray system based on visual saliency
ISMAR
AR 'X-ray vision' must reveal hidden objects while keeping the scene legible and preserving correct occlusion. Building on an earlier technique that showed only occluder edges, this paper explores using multiple salient features — adding hue, luminosity, and motion — to give richer context of the object in front. Two evaluations found the richer visualisation did not impede users' ability to select objects behind it, but also showed it needs a higher degree of adaptiveness to the scene.
