An empiric evaluation of confirmation methods for optical see-through head-mounted display calibration

This poster reports an empirical comparison of four methods — keyboard, hand-held, voice, and waiting — for confirming point alignments when calibrating optical see-through head-mounted displays. The 'waiting' method, designed to reduce head motion during confirmation, was significantly more accurate than the others, and averaging user input over a short window improved all methods. A further expert study confirmed that results obtained with a video see-through display hold for optical see-through calibration too.
