Exploring enhancements for remote mixed reality collaboration

This paper explores techniques to make remote mixed-reality collaboration more effective in both communication and interaction, built on CoVAR, a system linking an Augmented Reality user and an Augmented Virtuality user. It proposes awareness cues and an 'AV-Snap-to-AR' interface for communication, plus collaborative natural interaction and 'AV-User-Body-Scaling' for interaction. An exploratory study of the awareness cues and collaborative gaze showed these techniques benefit both communication and interaction.
