Effects of sharing physiological states of players in a collaborative virtual reality gameplay

Remote players often cannot sense each other's emotional state. This paper built two collaborative VR games — one joyous, one scary — that display one player's real-time heart rate to the other, and compared them against versions without that feedback. The games produced significant effects on players' overall emotional experience, giving early evidence that sharing physiological state shapes collaborative play.
