Empathic XR & Pervasive Computing Lab
The research lab Arindam founded at UQ, studying emotion-sharing and adaptive XR.
Goal
Founded and directed by Arindam at the University of Queensland, the Empathic XR & Pervasive Computing Lab studied how extended-reality systems can sense, share, and adapt to human emotion and physiology.
Approach
The lab’s research spanned empathic computing (sharing emotional and physiological states across users), presence and immersion, and adaptive XR training systems — supervising graduate students across these themes.
Outcomes
The lab produced peer-reviewed publications, trained graduate researchers, and helped establish empathic computing as a thread within XR/HCI research.
